Benefits of Tribal Members

Tribal members have a few benefits, whether it be economically or spiritually. The Tribes have a number of businesses that contribute to the economy of the Reservation. Even though they are owned by the Tribes, they operate independently from the Tribal government. All tribal members benefit from the economic success of tribal enterprises because the Confederated Tribes is registered as a membership corporation.
Also, some of the dam revenues and federal aid helps support local school districts with a significant population of Native Americans. In 2003, the revenues amounted to $3.8 million for schools around Madras alone.
All the tribal members receives and bestows a legacy. They possess rights and responsibilities for the sake of life's continuance. They all play a part of the tribe no matter how small the part.

Current Information About Tribe


The Warm Springs tribe belongs to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. This is a membership corporation that includes tribal bands: Wascos, Paiutes and Warm Springs. They are represented distinct from one another on the tribal council. The constitution of Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs requires eight elected council member from districts roughly correspond to regions where the three tribes live. The tribal government consists of the voting membership, tribal council,all subordinate boards, committees officials, employees, and organizations or appointed by tribal council. The elected eight members serve 3-year terms. They also have three traditional chiefs that serve for life.There are 4,260 members in the Warm Springs tribe. Most of the members live on the reservation and nearly half of the members are younger than 20 years old.

The Tribes have a number of enterprises that contribute to the economy of the Reservation. Even though they are owned by the Tribes, they operate independently from the Tribal government. Even though there are different enterprises, the unemployment rate on the reservation is above 60%.
